Gallatin County Superintendent’s Advisory Council Visits State Capitol

Gallatin County Schools Superintendent’s Advisory Council students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Frankfort, where they met with state legislators and gained firsthand experience in the legislative process. During their visit, students attended committee hearings, toured the Capitol grounds, and engaged in meaningful discussions with Representative Savannah Maddox and Senator Gex Williams, who took time to speak with them about state government and public service. A special thanks goes to Secretary of State Michael Adams staff, who guided students through the election process—from votes being counted at the county level to certification at the state level. Their insights provided a real-world connection to the electoral process, enhancing students' understanding of democracy in action. Additionally, Mr. Gleason, our 8th grade Social Studies teacher who was recently featured on Channel 19 News, was able to procure valuable resources to bring back to his students. A huge thank you also goes to Mr. Hargis Davis for helping coordinate this incredible learning experience for our students.

This trip was an unforgettable opportunity for Gallatin County students to witness the government in action and engage with leaders who help shape our state’s future.
